Genesis 3:1 in Hebrew

Genesis 3:1 in Hebrew

greetings everyone i'm going to read genesis chapter 3 verses 1 and 2 quite slowly going a word at a time sometimes a letter or syllable at a time so that as you practice along with

with the large print handout of genesis 3 1-7 you get a little oral reinforcement so you might try reading along and you can stop the video before i go to each new word and try to say it yourself and see if you're getting it

right or wrong that's maybe the best way to do this so beginning with 3-1 the means and ha and then hush we're going to start with our iron ah and then go to our vowel ah

we're done that's a long vowel next syllable shurek men ah room short i me we're going to say this cough twice mick and then next time coal cough holam lament before you try to say this one notice that the yod is going to be doubled so we're going to have a hat a patak and a yod hi and then we're going to

say the yod again yacht all together hai yat nicole we have a sin a scene with the dot over the left arm so it's not a sha it's a sa hassa and then a dalet segel hey the field the serpent was craftier than every beast of the field next text a type of every beast to the field ah ah so which made ah there's a whole

syllable because it's a long vowel and then our scene comments hey which made adonai these four letters are god's personal proper name in hebrew and beginning as early as the second century bce they ceased to be

pronounced out of piety and so jews speaking hebrew would say adonai jews writing in greek when they got to this would write kurios which means lord adonai means lord so instead of using a proper

name for god like zeus or marduk or whatever instead of using their proper name for their god they substituted adonai the word lord in place of the proper name here's

the common noun god so which the lord god had made this looks like a big jumble this is a really common expression so it's good to practice and i've broken it down on the syllable handout sheet which i distributed

with chapter six so we start with a vav and a patak va we're going to double the yield so vi we use the yod again and we have following

it a long vowel o yo the allah finishes that syllable this syllable is accented and i do not have that graphically represented by yo and

then mam by yomer and he said el here's our sheen and it's got a dog so we're going to say it twice ish and then the next time hot

isha here's what the serpent said to the woman off ki amar did really he say elohim see the subject usually follows the verb did really amar did he say did god really say let's find out what the serpent's gonna ask about did god really say lo tokelu lo so mohammed

holam and then an aleph not this is a negating word this is like yeah just know or not and then we get tav you look below for a vowel we don't find one we look left for a vowel there's our vowel toe and an olive so

that's a whole syllable because we have a long vowel which means this cough with a shawa is starting a syllable and when a schwa is under the first letter of a syllable it's vocal to and we're done and then we can

start with alamed and the shurak did god really say thou shall not eat mick cole from every eights hog gone uh and she said the woman this is sort of hard to say we have mi

we're going to double the pay so the first is mip then the next p is itself over it's starting a syllable and it's over a schwa so it's vocal and then rash hiragyod mit puri mit puri from the fruit ates haagon tree of the garden

no cow we are allowed to eat and i want to stop there for now and you all keep reading along let me know what you have any questions about you

God bless you
